Millington, TN - Johnny Sauter added another win to his unbelievable rookie season in the American Speed Association by dominating the Rev Up Sports Drink 200, held Sunday afternoon at Memphis Motorsports Park. With his 9th win of the season, he now ties ASA greats Butch Miller and Bob Senneker for the record of most wins in a single season.

Johnny earned the top spot for the start of the race after establishing a new track record during Saturday's qualifications.

When the green flag dropped, Sauter settled into second position. At lap 32, he made his move and passed Mike Garvey for the race lead. Johnny pulled away from the field and hung on to the point until pit stops at lap 100.

After a lengthy pit stop, the A.P. Plasman Group Chevrolet came out in the 14th position. The #9 car was one of only a few who chose to take four tires, which delayed the stop.

With great patience, Johnny took his time and worked through traffic. At lap 155, he passed Kevin Cywinski and moved to the front of the pack. Sauter would remain in the lead until the checkers, finishing with a 2.807 second lead.

Alan Pinsonneault, Vice President of Motorsports Operations, was very pleased with the race results. "Word's cannot explain how happy we all are with Johnny Sauter, Joe Shear and the entire AP Performance Racing team right now. The win at Memphis was a huge one for the entire team. It was almost like they felt a little bit of redemption from the Fair last weekend."

Pinsonneault went on to say, "The results this season speak for themselves. Each member of this team has put in so many long hours to be as fast as they have been at every race this season. All we can wish for them right now is that they can hold on to win the National Points Championship along with ROTY Honors. We are very excited for Johnny in his move to the NASCAR Busch series next season with RCR and are just very pleased that we could be a part of all his success."

Sauter goes into the final two races of the season with a 146 point lead over second place. Defending ASA champion Gary St. Amant continues to hold the second position with 73 points over 1997 champion Kevin Cywinski.

The 32nd annual Winchester 400 will be held Sunday September 16th at 2:00pm EST. Tune in to TNN for all the live action from Winchester Indiana.
