27 October 2000 - SASCAR hit the ovals for the first time in the Quickefit knockout, run on Capetown's Killarney circuit's 500m (1/3 mile) short oval. The event was run after qualifying for Saturday's races, with the field being divided into groups of 4 cars based on qualifying performance.

These cars then competed in heats and semi finals, with the top two cars going through in each case, with top semi-finalists and best losers from the previous heats going through to the finals, which saw a titanic duel between team mates Peter Lindenberg and Kosie Swanepoel.

Swanepoel and Lindenberg won one race each, but it was local driver Swanepoel who prevailed, sliding and bumping his way to victory. Swanepoel had also been the fastest driver on the oval, with a best time of 17.70 seconds.
