SUZUKI WEEKEND FINALE TO RUN THIS SATURDAY ELBRIDGE, NY...Day long, off-and-on again, rains forced DIRT officials to postpone the running of the second day of the Suzuki World Series of DIRT Track Racing Weekend at Rolling Wheels Raceway to this Saturday, October 3. "We met with promoter Harvey Fink during the rain delay," commented Rolling Wheels Raceway promoter Glenn Donnelly. "We worked out a plan to allow our drivers and race fans to be able to attend both Harvey's premier race at Fulton and the modified races at Rolling Wheels on Saturday. I want everyone to know that Fulton and Rolling Wheels will be working together this week to make the weekend run as smooth as possible." Fink revealed that his pits at Fulton would open at 9 a.m., with heats scheduled to hit the speedway around noon. A huge number of cars is expected, so plans currently show his 200-lap feature going to the starting line somewhere between 4:30 and 5 p.m.. Rolling Wheels Raceway will be opening its pit gates at 2 p.m. Saturday to allow the DIRT Sportsman access. Sportsman heat races will go off the starting line at 4:30 p.m.. Currently four heat races are planned, along with at least one consolation race. The Sportsman 30-lap feature should then be flagged off by 6 p.m.. Following the Sportsman feature, Bonanza Bus races are planned. Warmups for the DIRT Modifieds are then scheduled for 7 p.m., with heat races to start around 7:30 p.m.. Depending on how the races go at Fulton, heats may be delayed until 8 p.m. if needed. Currently four heat races are scheduled to take to the speedway. The 200-lap, $10,000 to win, Paine's Motorsports 200 will then take to the track around 9 p.m.. "We hope that this will help both speedways," Donnelly continued. "We then have a long day of racing scheduled the next day, Sunday. At 1 p.m. in the afternoon heats will take to the mile in for the running of the Labor Day delayed races. A huge storm hit Central New York on Labor Day eve, forcing us to delay this event until Sunday, October 4. Following the racing at the mile, the racing moves to Rolling Wheels again for the running of the Robert N. Petrocci Memorial 75-lap finale, along with sportsman. Rolling Wheels track points for the modifieds and sportsman will end with this event." Both of the races on Sunday carry championship implications as DIRT points, based on the 60 point-to-win schedule, will be issued towards the Mr. DIRT Modified Sunoco-Hoosier Championship Trail. With Super DIRT Week XVII scheduled to begin on Tuesday, October 6, race fans will have more then enough racing to last the long cold winter months. Also race teams will have a chance to run the mile, under SDW conditions and temperatures, along with practice pit stops during the Rolling Wheels races.
