MILWAUKEE, Wis. - By finishing seventh in the Time Warner Cable 200 at The Milwaukee Mile on Sunday, Ricky Johnson was able to climb one spot in the ASA ACDelco Series' National Points Standings, moving him up to eighth place.
"It feels good to be back in the top-10," Johnson said. "After working with Rollie (Christman, crew chief) and our car builder, Jim Randerson, I feel we made some positive strides in the handling of the car. The Vortec-powered Nationwide Auction Systems/WorldBestBuy.com Chevrolet Monte Carlo was a good car today. We just got beat by great cars."
After starting in 11th place, Johnson ran in the top-10 for the most of the race. Some late race pit strategy proved beneficial in moving the No. 22 Nationwide Auction Systems/WorldBestBuy.com Chevrolet up a few positions. On the last pit stop, the call was made to only take on two tires to gain track position.
"Out pit stops were second to none, as always," Johnson continues. "I'm anxious to go to the next race. I feel we're just going to get better from here on out."
Randy Herzog, co-owner of the No. 22 Herzog Motorsports entry, was satisfied with Johnson's race. "It was nice to see the car running up front again. The team moved up a spot in the points race and we're not too far behind from picking up some more positions. Ricky drove a good race and we'll try again at Minnesota."
