Rain Puts a Damper on Racing Action at Potomac Speedway

Budds Creek, Md., - May 19, 2000 For the second time in the 2000 racing - season, rain has cancelled the racing action at Potomac Speedway.
Coming up this Friday night, May 26th, will be the third I.T.S.I. late model feature of the season, the $2,000 to win, 40-lap Mike Clore Memorial, along with the regular show. Carruth Concrete will sponsor all of the racing action. Pit and grandstand gates open at 6:00 p.m., with racing action beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Who the next I.T.S.I. feature winner will be, is anyone's guess. There have been two different feature winners so far this year, Roy Deese, Jr., of Odenton, Md., and James Adkins, Jr., of Waldorf, Md. There have also been five different Budweiser Late Model feature winners, Deese, Adkins, Booper Bare, Les Hare, and Dave Hoffman. Adkins is the only repeat late model winner of the 2000 racing season.
Any of the feature winners so far this year along with many others such as Deane Guy, David Williams, Allen Brannon, David Hill, George Moreland, Tom Wagner, Jr., Gary Stuhler, and defending points champion Jeff Pilkerton, just to name a few, have a shot at becoming the next I.T.S.I. Budweiser Late Model feature winner.
The Bell Motor Company Semi-Lates have had three different winners so far this year. Defending points champion, Paul Cursey of Baltimore, Md., has racked up three wins so far this season. Darryl Hills has two wins to his credit with Jeff Reeley taking one.
In the Coors Light Pure-Street Stock division, there have been six different feature winners so far this year including, Jamie Lathroum, Tommy Hitt, Jeff Thomas, Bill Tippett, Johnny Smith, and Mike Latham.
In the Mac Tools Four-Cylinders division, Wayne Graves has been the only repeat winner, finding his way into victory lane two times this year. Other feature winners include, Chappy Knaack, Jerry Dick, Joe Blocker, and Greg Gunter.
Defending Gardiner Outdoor Products Enduro Points Champion, John Burch is currently dominating the division with three feature winners to his credit. Kevin Sprague, Joe Adams, and John Ballou all have also visited victory lane one time each this year.
In the Chesapeake Web Design Bomber division, there have been three feature races this year with two different winners. Brian Maxey has one win with Brian Thompson taking two.
