ST JOHNS, PA. With the heat races already in the books, the Late Models were the first feature to take the speedway. The feature race action was short lived, when a severe thundershower blanketed the track and forced officials to end the evening early.
Earlier in the evening, the Factory Stocks ran the first of many special Dash for Cash races. The Cook's Touch Restaurant sponsored event saw the 4 top drivers in total heat wins, battle for the bonus money. Mike Odwazny raced side-by-side with Mark Corbisiero for a couple laps, before taking the lead and the win. Corbisiero was a close 2nd, followed by Brad Kline and Mike Sweeney.
A pair of cautions on the opening lap slowed the start of the Late Model feature. The second yellow came out when Tom Scales and Mike Radocha Jr got together in 1, putting a lot of fluid on the track. As the track crew preformed the clean up, dark clouds, with lightening, headed towards the track. As the field took a couple hot laps to make sure the surface was ready for racing, the rains began to fall. After a 30-minute wait, the decision was made to reschedule races. The rained out features will be made up, one at a time, over the coming weeks.
The racing action continues this Saturday night, with the annual fireworks show after the races. Don't miss the fireworks on the tracks when the Late Models, Pro Stocks, Factory Stocks, Street Stocks and the TQ's shoot it out before the spectacular Fireworks display that has become a traditional outing for many fans in the Northeast.
