ST. Johns, Pa. - Sunday, March 24th saw the first action of 2001 on the Pocono Mountain Speedway third of a mile asphalt speedway. The Practice session drew over 40 cars including Legends, Pro Stocks, Factory Stocks, Street Stocks, Late Models and the Mighty Asphalt Modifieds. These cars were preparing for Qualifying Day, April 1st in which the line up will be determined for Opening Day April 8th.

Interesting to see reigning Street Stock Champion Bruce long Practicing with the Pro Stocks. Also joining Bruce was former Street Stock Driver Chris Burge and former Flemington competitor Rick Collins in his #16 Truck. The Modifieds had some familiar faces such as reigning champion Russ Frantz, in a totally different painted car than the fans were used to seeing. Also joining Russ were veterans Don Wagner and Andy Szapacs. Some new faces included Brian Crammer, who will join Pat Deponte of Deponte Racing as a teammate as well as rookie modified Driver Doug Yanders who is making the jump to the Modifieds.

Track Promoter/Owner Joe Calavinni continues to make improvement to the Speedway to make Pocono Mountain Speedway one of the most fan and competitor friendly tracks.

The action begins this Sunday, April 2nd at 2:00 P.M with Qualifying and continues with Opening Day on April 8th for the Modifieds, Late Models, Street Stocks, Pro Stocks, Factory Stocks and legends.
