New Egypt, NJ (May 18) -- The International Masonry Institute (IMI) will host both the younger and older generations at New Egypt Speedway on Saturday, May 27, to headline the Central Jersey race track's special Memorial Day weekend celebration.

For the second consecutive year, IMI -- a labor/management trust of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, with a regional training center in Bordentown, NJ -- is donating 25 VIP tickets for the May 27 event to Omega 13, a Lakewood, NJ, group that mentors boys from underprivileged homes, providing help with school and life problems and arranging chaperoned outings for the children, who range in age from 6-12.

"Thanks to IMI, the kids saw their first auto race last year at New Egypt, and we were all amazed to find so much excitement so close to home," said Thomas Ross, Omega 13's group director. "The kids had a great time and we really look forward to coming back."

New Egypt's holiday weekend bill will feature IMI's Medal of Honor 50, an extra-distance trophy race for the groundshaking big-block Modifieds. Sportsman and Street Stock action completes the three division race card.

As a Memorial Day tribute prior to the Medal of Honor race, members of the Disabled American Vets Chapter #20, of Brick, NJ, led by Commander Anthony Van Heath, will present the colors in honor of our fallen veterans. The group will also collect donations for the Gold Star Mothers, to benefit hospice facilities for servicemen disabled during the Korean and VietNam wars.

IMI, which also sponsors New Egypt regular Kenny Brightbill's "We Build for Life" #19 Modified, will present the holiday action starting at 6 p.m. Gates open at 3:30 p.m. Adult admission is $16, children 7-12 are $5 and kids 6 and under are free.
