HEAT WAVE HITS NEW EGYPT ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT AUGUST 19th

New Egypt, NJ, August 8, 1998...... The best Modified drivers in the region will try to beat the heat on Wednesday, August 19th, as the New Egypt Speedway presents its mid-summer Pepsi Heat Wave 50, a special 50-lap non-point event with a very cool $5,000 first prize. Sporstman racers are also on the card with the Mountain Dew 20, a 20-lap feature paying $700 to win. And there’s bonus money available to the Sportsman, to further heat up the action: Any outside invader in the Sportsman division who hasn’t competed at New Egypt this season and can win this 20-lap midweek event, will receive a $500 bonus. If a New Egypt Sportsman regular wins on Wednesday, then backs up that victory with a win on Saturday night (August 22), that driver will pick up an extra 500 bonus bucks. In addition, front runners in the two feature races will cool off with cases of Pepsi, with a 12-pack of the popular soft drink being awarded to each lap leader and a case going to each heat winner. Pepsi will also be providing product giveaways and some special fun for the race fans. Car rules for New Egypt’s midweek special call for 92-inch tires and DIRT- style or Tri-Track-style bodies. New Egypt’s weekly weight minimums will be in effect for both classes. All competitors will draw for start. Invading Modified standouts Jimmy Horton, Billy Pauch, Ricky Elliott and Doug Hoffman are expected to ride Wednesday’s Heat Wave and fire up against track regulars Kenny Brightbill, point leader Roger Laureno, Tom Hager, Mark Bitner, Steve Moss, Brian Jones, Tim Tanner Jr., Rich Polenz, Tom Carberry and Fritz Epright -- all feature winners at the tricky Central Jersey track this season. The action gets hot, hot, hot on Wednesday, August 19, with the first event going green at 7pm. Gates will open at 5pm. Admissionis $15 for Adults, $12 for military personnel and $6 for children 7-12. Kids under 6 are admitted free.
