New Egypt Speedway and Pepsi Host Champions
New Egypt, NJ (June 11) -- It'll be a championship showcase -- on both sides of the fence -- as New Egypt Speedway teams with Pepsi-Cola to host its big Night of Champions on Tuesday, June 22.
On the spectator side, the Winston Cup car of NASCAR's champion of champions, Jeff Gordon, will be on display courtesy of Pepsi. It'll be a great photo op for fans, and a chance to get an up-close look at a 200-mph race car. In addition, Jeff Gordon and Pepsi giveaways will be distributed to lucky fans throughout the night.
On the track, the top Modified division champs from around the region will duke it out in a no-holds-barred, 50-lap feature event that pays $6,000 to the winner and $300 to start. New Egypt/DIRT rules apply, with any brand 13x92-inch right rear tire.
The list of drivers expected to compete reads like a Who's Who of Modified Champions: topping the roster are Kenny Brightbill, with 21 career titles; Brett Hearn, who has 41 championships; Billy Pauch, with 31 track crowns; Doug Hoffman, 25 championships; Jack Johnson, 32 titles; Danny Johnson, who claimed 28; 25-time champ Jimmy Horton; Jeff Strunk, 26 titles; Craig Von Dohren, with 15 career titles; and defending New Egypt Modified champ Roger Laureno, with nine.
Will the crowned titleholders take all the cash? Or will a young upstart upset the purse into his own pocket? It's a championship bout in the Pine Barrens -- and the winner will be decided on June 22.
