New Egypt, NJ (December 11) - Two days into the new year racers and fans will get a sneak preview of what's in store for the 1999 season, when New Egypt Speedway swings wide the gates for an open house on Saturday, January 2nd from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Those in attendance will get a first-hand peek at major renovations undertaken in the past three months. The third-mile clay track has been expanded to 4/10ths of a mile, the turns made wider and the banking less pronounced. Additional lighting is being erected, new grandstands are going up, and the pit area is being enlarged and reconfigured. In the months to come, the children's playground and parking areas will be expanded, and walkways will be added to existing grandstands.

At the January 2nd open house, track officials will be on hand to answer questions about New Egypt's 1999 season. Pit licenses, pit parking and the new rulebook will be available, and the track's new McCreary spec tire will be on display for racers to inspect.

Pit licenses and rulebooks will also be available at New Egypt Speedway's booth at the Pennzoil Motorsports show, January 15-17th in Fort Washington, PA, where 1998 Modified track champion Roger Laureno's car will be on display. For further information, contact the speedway at (609) 758-1900.
