ISMA Lucas Oil/Helping Hands America Super Series Has Busy Month Of May Ahead
Oswego, NY - The ISMA-Lucas Oil-Helping Hands America Super Series has a busy month of racing ahead - it hopes. After getting rained out at Seekonk on May 2nd and a trip to Wall Township Speedway on May 15th, the winged supermodifieds return to The Cement Palace on May 22nd to run their 75-lap feature which was left over from May 2nd. Qualifying heats were in the books when the ran came.
Then it's on the road again, heading north to Canada to Kawartha Speedway in Fraserville, Ontario. ISMA has run at Kawartha three times prior to 2003, but last year some problems at the speedway canceled the ISMA events there. With everything resolved for 2004, the ISMA Supers are more than happy to make a return trip to that three-eighth's mile oval which sits, ironically, inside a horse-racing track. On that Friday, May 28, Gates open at 3:00 pm, spectator gates at 4:00 pm and racing starts at 7:00 pm. Brampton, Ontario's Dave McKnight quite appropriately won the first visit of ISMA to this Canadian oval. Greg Furlong and Chris Perley won the two 2002 scheduled events. A 50-lap affair is slated for the ISMA supers that Friday.
It's back across the border for the traditional Jim Shampine Memorial 50 lappers for winged and non-winged supers at Oswego Speedway the next day. It's an early show at Oswego with gates opening at noon and racing beginning at 2 pm. Joining the twin bill for the supers will be the limited supers and super stocks for a full day of racing. One of the day's sponsors, A&P Auto Parts, owned by Pat Abold driver of the Dunigan Racing 26, will have a hospitality tent outside the speedway and they've got a couple things planned for the fans. That night A&P of Oswego and Cicero will give away 4 new Firestone Indy 500 all season radial street tires to a lucky winner. Just sign up at the tent outside between 10 am and 2 pm. The winner will be drawn later that evening at the speedway. A&P has also donated a Bridgestone 4.0 hp miniature go-kart, which they are raffling off to benefit the Fort Ontario ball field rehabilitation project. The kart will also be on display May 29th. Tickets will be on sale for $1.00 or 6 for $5.00. The winning ticket for the go-kart will be drawn Classic Sunday, Sept. 5.
And, if that's not enough, both the ISMA-Lucas Oil-Helping Hands America and Oswego Speedway will be giving away bikes to a couple lucky kids who sign up. Drawings for both those bikes will be held that evening also. For more information go to ISMAsupers.com, Oswegospeedway.com or Kawarthaspeedway.com.
