SPRINGPORT, MI, 6-10-2000 - 23 cars showed up at the Springport Speedway for the 30 lap Great Lakes Nationals, Auto Value Michigan Legends race. Billy Simmons once again proved that he is a force to be recokend with this season with his third win in four races. Rounding out the top five were Steve Jancar, Mike Lowe, Levi Rouster, and Joe Romeo.

By lap three Billy made his move by taking the high line and charged to the front. Following in line were John Turnbull Jr. and Steve Jancar. A thrilling battle erupted as those three along with Rouster and Lowe developed.

Billy put a lot of hard work into just making the field on this hot and humid Michigan Summer night. During the first practice session an exhaust cam broke. Several calls and a hurried trip back to a local shop produced the necessary part. Minutes later Billy had the car running but according to him, "It was only on 3 and a half cylinders."

Proving that his surprise running early in the season was no fluke, Gene Clark managed to pass some thirteen cars from his 23d starting position to come home in 10th place.

Next week the Auto Value Michigan Legends teams travel to the Tri- Cities Speedway in Auburn Michigan on Saturday then it's a quick turnaround for a Sunday race at the Spartan Speedway in Mason, Michigan.
