JEFF SMITH WINS $10,000 AT CHEROKEE: Jeff Smith of Kings Mountain, N.C., led the whole way for a $10,000 victory in the Goodyear 80 at Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, S.C., a UDTRA-sanctioned event. Track points leader Buckshot Miles sailed over the first-turn wall with 10 laps to go while running second and failed to finish, giving up the runner-up spot to Mike Gault. Miles was uninjured and finished in 12th. TED MARTIN GETS FIRST-EVER NCRA VICTORY: Ted Martin led all 30 laps at Hub City Speedway in Lubbock, Texas, for his first career National Championship Racing Association victory. POCHE WINS SUPR RACE AT FOREST HILL: Ronnie Poche rallied to take the lead from early leader Doug Ingalls for a $2,000 Southern United Professional Racing victory at Forest Hill (La.) Speedway. DELBERT SMITH WINS NCRA RACE IN TEXAS: Delbert Smith took control early and won $2,000 for a 30-lap National Championship Racing Association victory at Hub City Speedway in Lubbock, Texas. It was Smith's fifth career NCRA victory. Ronnie Warman battled among the leaders early in the race but fell out with mechanical problems. FEATURE (30 laps): (1) Delbert Smith, (2) Ted Martin, (3) Lonnie Smith, (4) Larry McDaniels.

BOLAND WINS AT WHYNOT, MISS.: Mike Boland of Cuba, Ala., overtook Jim McDuffie early in the caution-filled 50 lap for a $3,000 victory in the only Mississippi State Championship series event that didn't get rained out on Memorial Day weekend. FEATURE (50 laps): (1) Mike Boland, (2) Jim McDuffie, (3) John L. Cliett, (4) Wiley Williams, (5) Randy Boyd, (6) Scott Slay, (7) Larry Murphy, (8) Jerry Inmon, (9) Brach Singleton, (10) Scott Abraham.

MACS RACE CANCELED: The $2,500-to-win Mid-Atlantic Championship series event at Challenger Raceway in Indiana, Pa., was rained out. No makeup date has been set.

ELDORA ALMS RACE RAINED OUT: The $2,000-to-win American Late Model Series race at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, was rained out. No makeup date has been set for the UMP-sanctioned event.

TEXAS RACE RAINED OUT: The $3,000-to-win feature at South Texas Speedway in Corpus Christi was rained out. No makeup date has been set. ------------------------------------------------------------- MONDAY'S RACE CAPSULES

NASCAR RACE AT WEST LIBERTY RAINS OUT: A NASCAR Busch All-Star Tour race was rained out for the fifth time this year when the Busch Light/Ron Alpen Ford 50 at West Liberty (Iowa) Speedway was postponed. The race has been rescheduled for Sept. 19-20 and has been expanded to a 100-lap feature.

WAYNE COAKLEY MEMORIAL RAINED OUT: The Wayne Coakley Memorial at Central Park Raceway in McHenry, Ky., was rained out. The $5,000-to-win UMP-sanctioned event will be rescheduled. -------------------------------------------------------------
