Anderson Tractor Legacy Cars Roar To Life At Martinsville

MARTINSVILLE, VA -- After the NASCAR Winston Cup stars finish their day Friday at Martinsville Speedway, the Anderson Tractor John Deere Allison Legacy Series will just be getting cranked up.

The Anderson Tractor John Deere Allison Legacy Series will stage a 30-lap race after the Winston Cup cars finish time trials for the Old Dominion 500.

The Anderson Tractor-John Deere race will follow the 3:05 p.m. NASCAR Winston Cup time trials on Friday, October 12. It will be the sixth consecutive year the series has raced on Winston Cup pole day at Martinsville.

Jay Godley of Charlotte, NC won last year's event.

Allison Legacy cars are three-quarter scale replicas of Winston Cup cars. Legacy cars are powered by four-cylinder Mazda B2200 truck engines and the cars have standard Mazda five-speed transmissions.

Qualifying for the Anderson Tractor-John Deere 30-lap race is 3 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 11 at Martinsville Speedway. Registration and inspection for the series is at 1 p.m. and practice will be at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Old Dominion 500/Advance Auto Parts 200 weekend kicks off with Bud Pole day on Friday, and tickets, including the Legacy race, are $15 for adults and children under 12 are admitted free.

The Advance Auto Parts 200 NASCAR Featherlite Modified Tour race starts at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, October 13. Tickets for adults are $30 and tickets for children ages 6-12 are $5. Qualifying for the Advance Auto Parts 200 is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday.

There will be two Winston Cup practice sessions on Saturday, the first at noon and "happy hour" at 1:15 p.m.
