ST. PAUL, Minn. - Mark Dismore edged past his teammate, Ricky Johnson, to complete the Miller Lite 300 from the Minnesota State Fair Speedway in 20th position. Dismore, like his Herzog Motorsports teammate, struggled with handling problems throughout the race.
"The Monster.com/WorldBestBuy.com Chevrolet Monte Carlo just wouldn't handle for me," Dismore commented. "We tried to adjust during the few caution periods we had, but it just wasn't enough. We lost some ground in the pits trying to do a tire strategy move, which didn't work out."
"Since tires are a key factor in the outcome of this race, Howie (Lettow, crew chief) decided to change our right side tires and switch the left side tires on one of our stops," Dismore continues. "The left front doesn't get a whole lot of wear, so by switching the left sides, it would be like getting a fresh left rear. The plan would've worked had the caution not come out a couple laps later, since we were better on the longer runs. We then came back in the pits to put on fresh left sides, but we had lost a lot of positions by doing the previous stop."
The next race for the No. 44 team is at Memphis Motorsports Park, where Herzog Motorsports picked up their first ASA win last year. Dismore tested at the facility and is excited to return for the race. "We tested there a few months ago and I really like the place. This team won at Memphis last year with Jimmie (Johnson) so I'd like to continue the winning ways."
