SUSSEX, Wis. - Mark Dismore and the Monster.com/WorldBestBuy.com Chevrolet recently tested at the Madison International Speedway, host to Saturday's ASA ACDelco Series race. Testing at the half-mile banked oval gives Dismore an extra sense of confidence as he is visiting most of the tracks on the 2000 ASA schedule for the first time while competing for the Pat Schauer Memorial Rookie of the Year title.
"We went and tested at Madison a couple months ago," Dismore said. "It went really well. We were there with one other car and were running as fast as he was, so we'll have to see how we stack up against the 40 other guys that will be there this weekend. I just know we need to have a good finish."
That "other car" was driven by local hot shoe, Brian Hoppe, who has thousands of laps around Madison and will be considered one of the favorites to win this weekend. Dismore hopes that the test session carries over into this weekend and, once again, is running as fast or faster than the "other car."
"This Monster.com/WorldBestBuy.com team is caught in a slump, but we're constantly digging to pull ourselves out" Dismore said. "If we could catch a break, we'd be a top-10 contender. We should race well at Madison, based on how we did at the practice session. We'll see how it goes."
Dismore is coming off a disappointing 27th place finish at Hawkeye Downs last Saturday. Dismore was running in the top-15, but was taken out of contention early by a lapped competitor. Dismore is 18th in the series points standings and remains fourth in the rookie battle.
The ACDelco Factory Motor Parts 300 begins at 8 p.m. CST on Saturday evening. TNN Sports will broadcast the exciting action from the Madison International Speedway live.
