Michael Rush; poised and ready for the 2005 ASA Late Model Series Presented by GM Performance Parts season.
The state of Ohio is the site of two events during the 2005 ASA Late Model Series Presented by GM Performance Parts. July 16th at the immaculate Mansfield (OH) Motorsports Speedway, and August 20th at the Sandusky (OH) Speedway. One driver that is looking forward to running closer to home is returning series pilot, Michael Rush, who has announced his plans to run the full season with the ASA Late Model Series.
"We're looking forward to the upcoming season. We definitely want to improve on our point's position from last year and go out and be competitive all year long." Said the veteran Powell, Ohio driver. Rush finished 21st in the final 2004 ASA Late Model Series point's standings. Among his top finishes included a season high fourth at the Berlin (MI) Raceway for his one top five finish. Overall, the 36-year-old driver also racked up two top 10 showings. "The biggest thing is we want to have fun this year, no matter what happens." Ended Rush, an engine builder by trade and is married to wife, Melissa, and they have a daughter, Taylor.
A former competitor in the Outlaw Bodied, Super Late Models division at Columbus (OH) Motor Speedway, he was a consistent top 10 finisher in the points chases from 2001-2003 with a best finish of sixth in 2003. He is also a former Sportsman champion at Columbus as well as a two-time Modifieds track champion at the Shady Bowl (OH) Speedway and a former competitor in the NASCAR Goody's Dash series. Rush has also recorded a feature win in the ICAR Modifieds series (Now USA Modifieds series) and still holds the track record for the IMCA/Michigan type Modifieds at the Toledo (OH) Speedway. Over a 26-year career, which started in quarter-midgets in 1979, the Buckeye State driver has over 30 feature wins in various divisions to his credit.
