2004 NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Midwest Regional champion, Charlie Menard announces plans to run a partial ASA Late Model Schedule in 2005.
A well known name in the world of Motorsports has announced his intentions for the 2005 season. Charlie Menard, the 2004 NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Midwest Regional Champion, and Team Menard have announced their plans for the upcoming season and they include running a partial schedule with the ASA Late Model Series Presented by GM Performance Parts.
"We look forward to the challenges presented by the ASA Late Models Series, and hopefully we can make our home state proud against the travelers." Said the C.O.O. of the nationally known Menard's Home Improvement chain of stores. "We are going to try and get to about half the shows so we can get into the Winner's Circle Program. We also want to stay as close to home as possible and also race around Wisconsin again as well."
The Eau Claire WI pilot has already started the 2005 season on a high note and on the road no less, as the 2004 LaCrosse (WI) Fairgrounds Speedway Late Model track champion, picked up one of the biggest wins of his career by winning the big 200-lap feature in late January during Speedfest 2005 at USA (FL) International Speedway in Lakeland FL. Menard, who is a 1995 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, held off Midwest stars, Eddie Hoffman and Pat Kelly for the impressive win against perhaps one of the most start-studded fields of cars seen anywhere in recent memory.
As for the rest of the 2005 season, Menard looks to be quite busy throughout. "We'll try to do the Wisconsin Challenge Series and race at LaCrosse when I can." Continued Menard. "We'll also try and hit some MARS shows as well as a few CRA events too; I'm going to have a good time racing this season." Among his other accomplishments include an impressive fifth place showing with his team in the 2004 24 hours of Daytona against some of the best drivers in world from all walks of motorsports.
