SENNEKER MOTORSPORTS PERFORMANCE REPORT
BOB FALLS TO 5TH IN POINTS, RAINES WINS ASA CHAMPIONSHIP
"NORTH CAROLINA SWEET POTATOES 300" November 17, 1996 Southern National Speedway; Kenly, NC
Finished: 21st Started: 17th (15.136, 95.137 mph)
Still struggling to find speed in the JR Automation/Lane/Mr. Gasket Ford Thunderbird on the high banked 4/10 mile track Senneker started 17th in the 32 car field with hopes of surviving t and still maintaining his 3rd place in ASA points. Unfortunately it would not be Bob Senneker's day, if it could go wrong it did. While starting 17th he progressed as high as 15th by lap 61, but the handling went away quickly on the "Bluebird", by lap 100 the leaders who were setting a blistering pace has lapped the winningest driver in ASA. Bob's loose condition was hampered by a lost loose plug wire on lap 133. The 4th caution flew at alp 145, the crew changed right side tires, fueled the car and corrected the plug wire. The car was losing the power to one cylinder because of rubber buildup around the engine. while struggling to regain his lost lap Bob lost his right rear brakes when the line began to leak, on a subsequent pit stop the crew pinched the l brake line off. Still trying to preserve his 3rd place in points, Bob lost a cylinder for good on the last restart at lap 289, with only 11 laps to go. As the point leader went on to win the race, Bob limped home in 21st falling to 5th in points and losing the Goodyear Deal tire money to Raines as well. "Well it just wasn't our day, Said Senneker. "We got a lap down early and then we had more problems and just could not overcome those obstacles. The things we didn't want to happen today all seemed to jump all over us. We'll just have to get 'em next year. We appreciate JR. Lane, Mr. Gasket, Ford, Kinetic and all the sponsors for helping out, without a primary it has been a struggle. We are still looking for that major sponsor to help us out for the '97 season.
