MOORESVILLE, NC - Just two months after moving their entire operation 1,000 miles, Johnny Sauter and the A.P. Performance Racing team are ready to begin the 2001 ASA Rookie of the Year campaign. The season will kick off at St. Augustine Speedway in St. Augustine, FL on Saturday, February 18th at 9pm EST.

"I'm really excited to start out the 2001 season at St. Augustine Speedway," remarked Sauter. "We've never raced there before, but our test session went well and we are confident we can come away with a top ten finish."

The inaugural visit to the speedway will also mark the first race for driver Johnny Sauter and crew chief Joe Shear, Jr. "Joe has a lot of racing experience," Johnny commented. "His knowledge is a huge asset to this team."

A.P. Performance Racing has already accumulated an ASA national championship and a national pit stop competition title, but their trophy case is still missing one thing - the ASA Rookie of the Year title. This trophy, they plan to acquire in 2001with Johnny Sauter behind the wheel.

Sauter will be making appearances during Florida Speedweeks on Wednesday, February 14th at Paul Lewis Tire in Jacksonville, FL from 11am to 1pm and at Tire Kingdom in St. Augustine, FL from 4pm to 6pm. He will also attend a special autograph session on Saturday, February 18th at the track during the "Welcome Party" for Mid-western based fans from Iowa, Michigan, and Wisconsin; time TBD.
