Jimmy Mars looking to close in on UDTRA points lead with triple-crown action this weekend.

(Elk Mound, WI-- July 17, 2002) Jimmy Mars will be gunning for the gold this weekend when he unloads his Jimmy Mars Racing / MasterSbilt Chevrolet Monte Carlo at Knoxville, TN's Atomic Motor Speedway to launch a three-race swing through the southeast on the United Dirt Track Racing Association (UDTRA) tour. Mars is one of four dirt late model campaigners currently engaged in one of the hottest championship battles in the sport as he contends for the UDTRA title with Dale McDowell, Rick Eckert and Steve Francis. Mars has powered to 14 top-5 UDTRA finishes in the 2002 season including an early-season UDTRA win. This weekend kicks off with a $10,000 to win 50-lap feud at Atomic Motor Speedway's high-banked 1/3 mile oval (Friday - July 19th) then on two another pair of UDTRA sanctioned events at Dixie Speedway near Atlanta on Saturday and Sunday in Rome, GA.

Jimmy Mars is a former Rookie of the Year winner on the NASCAR RE/MAX Challenge Series. Mars is a former champion of the 1997 Dream race at Eldora Speedway which yielded a career-high payday of $100,000 while also capturing titles at the Batesville (AR) Speedway's 2000" Topless 100" and the 1996"USA Nationals" (Cedar Lake Speedway). Mars has also charted high-profile national wins at both Bristol Motor Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway.
