FARMINGTON, Mo. -- (Aug. 25, 2002) Jathon Cruse of Farmington was crowned the 2002 Racing Association of Mini Stocks (RAMS) champion Saturday night at the I-55 Raceway in Pevely. Cruse was joined by his family and friends on the front straight at I-55 following the RAMS feature race where he was presented a five-foot tall trophy and a check in the amount of $600.

Marty "Don't call me Martin" Boyer of Potosi actually won the feature race, but had to settle for second place on the season.

The 10-race RAMS Point Series started April 13th at the St. Francois County Raceway in Farmington and took the association to the SEMO Motor Speedway in Sikeston, the Auto Tire & Parts Racepark in Benton, Mo., and the Fredericktown Raceway before concluding Saturday night at I-55 Raceway in Pevely. Racers in the series who met all the requirements earned between $600 and $100 from the points fund depending on their final standing in the series.

Boyer Siding of Potosi, Bail Bonding Associates of Park Hills, Convenience Barns of Farmington/Desloge and the SEMO Motor Speedway were the corporate sponsors of the RAMS Point Series this season.

The 2002 RAMS Awards Banquet will be held at Club 67 Steakhouse and Sports Bar on Highway 67 between Desloge and Bonne Terre at 6 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 22nd. All racers, their families, friends and fans of the sport are welcome to attend. Several special awards will be presented that night.
