Special presentation to be made at Irwindale on Saturday, April 12 -- $25,000 check to survivors of slain Californian service men and women.

Irwindale, Calif. - - This Saturday night in 7PM pre-race ceremonies, Ed Lopes, long time Irwindale Speedway race car sponsor, successful businessman, and Vietnam-era veteran will present a check for $25,000 to representatives of American troops who have recently fallen in the Iraqui conflict.

Lopes, the owner of the Villa Roma Sausage Company, has pledged 20% of his company's April profits or $25,000 (which ever is larger) in support of the families who have had a loved one perish or been declared missing in action. "-- I'm proud of the brave military men and women who are fighting and dying on the battlefield to ensure the freedom and safety of every living American. That's why we're doing this," said Lopes. "We hope that other companies and individuals will join us in this effort -- These families need support now -- We're trying our best to help."

On Saturday night a special color guard from the 40th Infantry Division (Mech.) Support Brigade, California State Military Reserve will be on hand to support the ceremonies.

Fans will be able to add their support to the fund by stopping by the Villa Roma #4 Auto Club Late Model race car (driven by Todd Burns) during the on-track autograph session at 6PM or after the races in that car's pit area.
