2001 Camel Sod Spring Fling Round 2

Indianapolis, Ind.Louisville, KY's Artie B. Ware took it on home and everybody else took it on the chin for Round 2 of the Carmel Sod Spring Fling at the Indianapolis Speedrome. Last week's winner and fast qualifier Dale Shelton jumped out to an early lead but traffic woes and an unstoppable Ware kept him out of the top spot in the Outlaw Figure-8 feature.

Mike and Doug Riddle, racing brothers from Anderson, IN claimed second and third after a late race spin relegated Shelton to sixth. Indianapolis' Jack Smith and Memphis, IN's Shelton rounded out the top five.

Mike Riddle grabbed the Trophy Dash while Smith and Indy's Dennis Sloan took the qualifying races.

The weekend warriors of the Speedrome's Sunshine Café Roadrunner division battled for a pair of features. "Big, Bad" Barry Coy took first in the "A" Main over sophomore racers Ernie Borden and Barry Tabor. The "B" Main went to Mike Adams over Jeff Smith and A.J. Januszkiewicz. Heats were copped by Scott Cothron, Jesse Cothron, and Shawn Kloss with Jeff Smith grabbing fast time.
