LAS VEGAS - The 3rd Annual IMCA Duel in the Desert on Dec. 1 and 2 will close out the Las Vegas Motor Speedway's short-track racing season.

"Many of the best drivers from all over the country will be present to put on an exciting show for the race fans," said David Stetzer, director of short-track events. "IMCA Modifieds and Late Models are very popular, and the race fans deserve two great nights of racing. This is a wonderful way to end the season"

More than 100 IMCA Modifieds are expected to compete for the $3,000 winner's purse in Saturday's "A" feature. IMCA Late Model drivers will be competing for $1,500 winner's purse in their main event.

The two-day event, which will be held on the speedway's half-mile dirt track, will start Friday night with four hours of open practice for all divisions.

Kelly Boen of Henderson, Colo., won last year's 50-lap main event.

Pre-registration is $125 per driver. The registration fee after Nov. 17 will be $150. Registration forms can be found at www.lvms.com or by calling (702) 632-8422. Open practice on Friday night is $20 per car and $5 per crew member.

Spectator gates open at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Admission is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and military and $2 for children 6-12. Children five and under are free.
