LAFARGEVILLE, NY - The Street Stock division at the Can-Am International Speedway in LaFargeville has been dropped for the 2001-racing season.

"We've looked at this situation from a variety of angles," said new Can-Am promoter Eric Kingsley. "Over the past few seasons there has not been much support for the division, and for 2001 we looked into making the cars into DIRT Pro Stocks. However, that move is not feasible because the changes will be too difficult and costly for the drivers. We felt that dropping the decision would be the best decision for everyone involved."

Can-Am Speedway track management regrets any inconvenience this decision may cause.

For the 2001 season, Can-Am will be once again sanctioned by DIRT Motorsports and will run the same divisions as in the past. Weekly Saturday night racing action at Can-Am will include the DIRT 358 Modifieds, DIRT Sportsman, I.M.C.A. Modifieds, and Pure Stocks.
