PEVELY, MO (April 5, 2001) I-55 Raceway is set to kick off the 2001 regular season this Saturday night, April 7th. The season opener was scheduled for March 31st, but was rained out. I-55 Raceway features UMP Late Models, UMP Modifieds and AARA Sportsman.

Defending UMP Late Model track and national champion Ed Dixon of Washington, MO will be in competition along with Mark Oller, Steve Shive, Dave Jumper and many more. The UMP Late Model division always provides exciting side by side racing that has fans on their feet at I-55 Raceway.

The UMP Modified division promises to be exciting as ever. I-55 Raceway provides some of the most competitive modified racing in the Midwest. The modified division averaged over forty cars each night during the 2000 season. You can see some of the best UMP Modified drivers in the country at I-55 Raceway including Scott Weber, Dean Hoffman, Jim Shereck. Also, see the 2001 UMP Modified Florida Speedweeks Champion Ray Walsh.

The AARA Sportsman division provides some very competitive action as this division averaged over forty cars per night as well in 2000.

Some improvements made to the facility over the winter include paved walkways and additional new grandstands.
