Pevely, MO (August 10, 2002) Jim Durbin returned to victory lane for the second time this season in the UMP Late Model division. Durbin led all twenty-five laps in the main event but had to hold off constant challenges from four different competitors. Durbin took off from the outside of the front row and had to hold of Ed Dixon and Tim Ratajczyk early on. Durbin held his line around the top as Dixon stayed glued to his bumper. Ratajczyk raced around the bottom trying to work his way past. Dixon's night would end on lap thirteen as he experienced mechanical problems and had to pull in. Ratajczyk then moved to the top to chase Durbin allowing Danny Haynes to use the bottom to move up and fight for the lead. These three fought for the lead for the final ten laps with Durbin hanging on for the win, Ratajczyk second and Haynes third. Kyle Steffens had his best showing in a late model and finished fourth with Jeff Johns rounding out the top five.
Dean Hoffman dominated the UMP Modified feature. He led all twenty laps enroute to the win. Rich Whaley was able to challenge Hoffman late in the race but settled for second. Brent Thompson took third, Jeff LeBaube fourth and Steve Grotz was fifth.
Paul Belken was able to hold off Dave Jenkins and pick up the victory in the AARA Sportsman division. Todd McGraw came home third, Scott Stuppy fourth and Jim Troutman fifth.
Carl Springer, II buzzed his way to victory in the AARA Wannabees division.
