Hesston, PA -- With the track soaked from heavy overnight rains, Hesston Speedway promoters Butch and Linda Grubb declared a complete rainout of the May 18 Sleeper Chassis Trophy Night races before noon Saturday.

Mother Nature willing, the track will present the Rick Grubb and Donnie Wentz Memorial race on May 25 with trophies provided by the Grubb family. The traditional Memorial Day races commemorate local entrepreneur Rick Grubb, who was responsible for starting his brother, Hesston's Butch Grubb, in stock car racing at Hesston in 1973. This year the annual memorial event also remembers the late Donnie Wentz who for many years cheerfully greeted race fans every week at the main grandstand entrance.

The running order for the Memorial Day weekend races is Shellbrook Stables Limited Late Models, Grubb Lumber V-8 Street Stocks, Goshorn Racing Supply Four-Cylinder Pure Stocks, and Chet Grove's Cars Unlimited Hobby Stocks. The PA 305 Sprints that were scheduled May 18 will return to Hesston on June 1 for the season's first autograph night and Kid's Pit Tours.

The Hesston Speedway is located just north of Route 26 opposite to the Seven Points access to Lake Raystown. It's about five miles south of Route 22 in Huntingdon and 45 miles north on Routes 30W and 26 from the Breezewood Exit 12 of the PA Turnpike. For information call the track at 814-658-2823 or consult the website at www.hesstonspeedway.com.
