Hawk Performance Group joins ASA for 2002
Pendleton, IN (March 18, 2002) -- The Hawk Performance Group has become a participating manufacturing sponsor of the 2002 ASA Racing Series. The Medina (OH) based company has inked a multi-level deal involving contingencies for both the nationally touring s tock car series and its two member tracks for this season, Hawkeye Downs Speedway in Iowa and I-94 Speedway in Minnesota.
Hawk Performance, formerly known as Hawk Brake, has been manufacturing brake materials for high performance automobiles since the early 1990's. The business was started by Carl Harbert and Gary Worner and has developed a strong following among weekend raci ng enthusiasts.
During 2000, Hawk Corporation made a decision to launch a major expansion into the performance and motorsports industries.
Quarter Master, acquired by Hawk in 1999, manufactures clutches for professional Motorsports and Tex Racing, acquired by Hawk in late 2000, manufactures transmissions and drive trains for professional motorsports. These businesses form the Hawk Performance Group. Quarter Master is located in Lake Zurich, Illinois, and Tex Racing is in Ether, North Carolina.
"We are certainly pleased that the Hawk Performance Group has elected to be a part of this series," said Greg Carr, ASA Marketing Manager. "They are an important corporate presence in motorsports for a number of respective sanctioning bodies and definitely with competitors."
This marks a return to ASA as all three entities have had some form of prior involvement with the series.
