HARDEEVILLE, S.C. (April 16, 2001) -- Hardeeville Motor Speedway has finalized arrangements with the FOX Sports Network for airing of the Legends Cars World Finals, which were held at the 1/3-mile facility March 24. The broadcast will air in a one-hour format on FOX affiliates Sunshine Network and Fox SportsSouth.
Fox SportsSouth will be responsible for broadcasting the World Finals on Thursday, April 19 at 8:00 p.m. EST and Friday, April 27 at 2:00 p.m. EST. The one-hour show will feature the racing action highlights in the qualifying races, as well as the entire B-Main race and World Finals Main Event.
The race, which was originally scheduled for December, but postponed until March due to inclement weather, will also be broadcast on the Sunshine Network on Tuesday, April 17 at 2:00 p.m. EST. The race telecast will be replayed on the Sunshine Network on Thursday, April 19 at 8:30 p.m. EST and Saturday, May 5 at 12:00 a.m. EST, for a total of five opportunities to catch the exciting battles that took place during the weekend.
Although the race event was run over three weeks ago, a Legends Cars World Champion has yet to be crowned. The winner will be awarded the extraordinary $15,000 payout. Marc Mitchell of Tallahassee, Fla. was named the victor after crossing the finish line in first position, but was disqualified in post-race technical inspection. This handed the win to Jonathan Davenport from Blairsville, Ga., with Chris Beach of Hardeeville, S.C. moving up to second place. Results are still pending, as Mitchell appeals his disqualification and results from a tire test by BFGoodrich Tires are finalized.
Tune in for the race to see how it all turns out. Hardeeville Motor Speedway is located three miles southeast of I-95 on Highway 17.
