Doubleheader, next Friday POSTPONEMENT OF A SECOND PROGRAM AT AUTODROME GRANBY DUE TO MOTHER NATURE

GRANBY, Que., July 10, 1998 -- It required a lot of courage to try to present a stock-car event last Friday. Taking advantage of a break from mother nature by the end of the afternoon on a rainy day in the Quebec province, Autodrome Granby's promoter, Bob Gatien, and his helpers prepared the track.

At eight o'clock, as usual, everything was in place despite heavy clouds. After only three laps in the tourism qualification, the rain came down for the first time. With a twenty- minute delay to reorganize, the races started again.

But at the intermission, mother nature decided not to collaborate forcing promoter Gatien to postpone till next Friday. It will be a doubleheader night beginning with the finals of the X-Tend program followed by the 13th Mid-Season Championship.

During the heats, Pierre Hebert and Hugues Mercier were in the winner's circle in the modified division. Yannick Mathieu and Gerry Patenaude were able to do so in the sportsman class while Stephane Michaud was the winner in the late models. Stephane Ruel was the other winner in the tourism category.

As mentioned, there will be a doubleheader program next Friday at Autodrome Granby. Eight finals will be on hand for a night full of action.
