ALAN JOHNSON STEALS ANOTHER WIN AT FULTON SPEEDWAY

FULTON, NY...Alan Johnson made his typical late race charge last Saturday night at Fulton Speedway and in the process won his fifth 35-lap DIRT Big Block Modified feature race of the 2006 season. Johnson came from the 15th starting position to earn the victory on the multi-groove track. The victory for the Jeff Rudalavage owned, Native Poker sponsored team was worth $2,000.

Pete Taylor led the opening lap of the DIRT Big Block Modified feature race from the pole starting position. Vinnie Vitale took the top spot away from Taylor on lap two. Vitale was able to open up a large lead, but that was lost when racing was stopped on lap-17. At that point Rick Amo took part of the first turn wall down after losing his brakes entering the turn. Amo was not injured in the ordeal and racing resumed after repairs to the wall.

Vitale restarted the event strong in search of his first ever feature win at the Home of the Victoria 200. Jimmy Phelps constantly challenged Vitale for the top spot, but Vitale always came out with the feature lead. The final caution period of the race came on lap-31 when Joe Isabell stopped in the fourth turn area without power. On the restart Alan Johnson restarted third in a race that at times he appeared not to be a factor.

Johnson moved into second on the restart and took the lead from Vitale on lap-33 by running the bottom of the track to perfection. Johnson then went on to the victory with Vitale settling for second. Jimmy Phelps, Pat Ward and Tim Fuller completed the top ten feature finishers. Chad Phelps, Tom Sears, Kevin Bates, Ryan Phelps and John Barker rounded out the top ten finishers.

Sam Reakes IV claimed his third 20-lap DIRT Sportsman feature race win last Saturday night. John Behron, Shawn Donath, Joey Williams and Mike Bowman finished in positions second through fifth respectively. DIRT Sportsman rookie driver John Behron led the opening 10-laps of the main event. Reakes made the winning move on lap-11, with Behron earning his best ever finish in the class.

Billy Clark won his fourth 20-lap DIRT Pro Stock feature race last Saturday night. Jim Evans, Rob Seavy, Curt Prevo and Dave Briggs chased Clark across the finish line. Evans and Seavy were early feature race leaders. Clark passed Evans for the top spot on lap seven and never gave it back. Evans went on to his best finish of the season in second.

Dave Mannise earned his third 20-lap Pure Stock feature race win last Saturday night. Gary Barton, Steve Crouse, Dan Hofmann Sr. and Ron Hawker crossed the finish line in position second through fifth respectively. Mannise made the winning move by Steve Crouse on lap-13. Crouse had led the event from the start until being passed by Mannise.

Dan Williams won the 20-lap ESDCA Mod Lite feature race last Saturday night. Doug Williams, Tim Devendorf, Darren Austin and Darren Forbes completed the top five feature finishers. Dan Williams passed Devendorf on lap-18 to earn the victory.

Professional DIRT Motorsports competition will start-up again this Saturday at Fulton Speedway with the DIRT Big Block Modifieds, DIRT Sportsman, DIRT Pro Stocks, Pure Stocks, ESDCA Mod Lites and the Four Cylinder Enduro cars all in action. Show time is 7 p.m.
