Rick Knowles came from his ninth place starting position to win the 35-lap Late Model feature Saturday night at Flat Rock Speedway. Brian Norton, Tim Moore and Ken Ahlgren shared the spotlight on a cool and overcast night.

Joe Hawes bounded into the lead from his pole position. Fellow front row started Joy Fair staying to his outside for the first 10 laps bringing a cheer from the crowd. Fair eventually drifted back and dropped out on lap 17. Hawes held off all challengers until Steve Bunge passed him on lap 19. Bunge saw a half straightaway lead evaporate when a caution flew on lap 27 allowing the field to close in on him. One lap later Knowles dove low and passed Bunge for the lead and the win. Bill Steinhilber thrilled the crowd with a daring move coming out of turn 4 on the final circuit. Steinhilber nipped Bunge at the checkered, even though his car was nearly sideways at the time, coming to rest in the mud at in turn one.

The A main Street Stocks had a little trouble getting a lap in but the third time was charm. Brian Norton whipped around John Rowloff on lap two to take the lead that he would never relinquish. Rick Knowles and Ken Knight would apply heavy pressure but at the end of the 25-lap race would come up short finishing third and fourth respectively.

When the lead four cars got tangled up with a lapped car on lap seven, Tim Moore missed the wreck and went on to victory lane in the 15-lap B main. Mark Howie and Jim Kourtakis picked up where they left off last week in the C main. The pair finished again finished first and second.

The rain earlier in the day left big puddles lining the Figure 8 track for tonight's race. With numerous cars puddle skipping during the 20-lap event, the track became very slick. Ken Ahlgren survived the less than ideal conditions to win the feature event over Bob Studt. Ahlgren led from his outside pole position but lost the lead to Dennis Whisman on lap 12 when the pair split a spinning car at the intersection. Five laps later, another spinning car in the intersection clipped Whisman, giving the lead back to Ahlgren.
