Northampton, PA . . .Northampton, PA's, NASCAR Modified Driver, Eric Beers had a double shot weekend. Saturday night at Mahoning Valley Speedway Eric started in 2nd of 21 cars and then quickly moved into the lead and proceeded to hold off the field in the #12 Kocher Motorsports, Brown Daub, JMC Investment, Shir Ray Inn, Sunoco Race Fuels, Wynn's Modified. It was great racing as Eric had to hold off Anthony Sessley and Matt Wentz and the charges of Eric Kocher.
On Sunday, May 14 at Pocono Mountain Speedway Eric overcame a heat race tangle to start the race in the 6th position. Eric quickly made his way to the front highlighted by an intense side by side battle with Chris Ammon from about laps 8 through 15. Finally Eric was able to get by Ammon and go on to win his third race of the season. The win at Pocono Mountain Speedway in the Horwith Racing #19, also was a Sunoco Race of Champions Qualifier, meaning that regardless of how Eric qualifies at this years 51st annual Sunoco Race of Champions, Oswego Speedway, October 5th and 6th, he has a spot in the starting grid. This takes alot of pressure off the team as they can worry about getting the car ready with a race day set up.
The two wins this weekend gives the Team a boost in confidence as they head to Nazareth Speedway for the 100 Lap Service Electric NASCAR Modified Featherlite Tour Race on Sunday May 20th. Practice and Qualifying are set for Saturday morning beginning at 8:00 A.M.
Eric will also be competing at Mahoning Valley Speedway on Saturday night.
