Seven former champions converge at Labor Day Classic
Pendleton, Ind. (August 21, 2003) -- The Labor Day Greased Lightning Orange Blast 400 at Elko Speedway in Minnesota will feature an all-star field of ASA drivers including what may possibly be an unprecedented seven former series champions in a single event field.
1984-85 ASA Champion Dick Trickle will join the expected entry of 1999 Champion Tim Sauter and the 2002 Champion Joey Clanton as the returning series kingpins along with current full-time competitors and former champions Kevin Cywinski, Butch Miller, Bryan Reffner and Gary St. Amant.
Trickle has long been a fixture of the Labor Day event in Minnesota, although this will mark the first year in decades that event hasn't been held at the State Fair Speedway. The facility closed after the 2002 race as fair officials decided there were too numerous and expensive structural challenges with the facility.
Clanton, now competing in the Busch Series, is the defending champion of the ASA event at Elko Speedway. He, Trickle and Sauter will all make their 2003 debuts with the ASA Racing Series.

For the second consecutive year Steve Sviggum, Speaker of the Minnesota State House of Representatives will join the pre and post race festivities.
