Hemphill released from Meijer Team: Porter to reunite with Lettow

Delton, Mich. (May 23, 2003) -- Go Go Motorsports Team Owner Ron Daniels has announced that Ryan Hemphill has been released from his duties with the Meijer/Go Go Motorsports Team. The veteran ASA car owner also stated that Greenville, S.C., standout Toby Porter will assume the driving duties beginning with Saturday's ASA Racing Iowa 300 at Hawkeye Downs Speedway in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Porter was released from his current contact in order to pursue the new opportunity with the Meijer Team. At Go Go Motorsports, he will reunite with crew chief Howie Lettow, who was impressed with the young driver in prior testing. Porter's best career finish in ASA took place at USA International Speedway in March 2001, scoring third-place honors.

Porter is scheduled to compete with Go Go Motorsports for the remainder of the 2003 ASA season. Go Go Motorsports wishes to thank its sponsors; Meijer Stores, Edy's Grand Ice Cream, Red Baron Pizza, Stouffer's, Tyson Chicken and Freshlike Vegetables for their continued support throughout these changes.

The Go-Go Motorsports team, with David Stremme at the wheel, captured the 2002 Rookie Championship, scoring two victories. The first victory came at Salem Speedway in July and the second triumph occurred at Indianapolis Raceway Park in September. The Meijer car finished in the top five on 13 occasions and among the top-10 finishers on 15 occasions during the 20-race campaign.

The sixth event of the 2003 ASA Racing Series is set for Saturday, May 24 at Hawkeye Downs Speedway in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The ASA Racing Iowa 300 takes the green flag at 8 p.m. (Central).
