DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., (Jan. 29, 2004) -- The Mainland High School Class 5A state championship football team (Daytona Beach, Fla.) will serve as Grand Marshals for the IPOWER DASH 150 on Sunday, Feb. 8, Speedway President Robin Braig announced. The entire team, including players, cheerleaders, coaches and administration, will give the command "Drivers, start your engines."

The Mainland Buccaneers became the first Volusia County football team to win a state championship last December when they defeated Naples 24-13 for the Class 5A state football championship in Gainesville, Fla. The Buccaneers finished the season 13-1.

"The accomplishments of the Mainland Buccaneers football team have made the entire community proud," Speedway President Robin Braig said. "We're honored to have them participate in pre-race ceremonies for the IPOWER DASH 150."

The IPOWER DASH 150 is the season opener to the IPOWERacing Dash Series. The 60-lap race will follow Bud Pole Qualifying for the Daytona 500 on Sunday, Feb. 8.
