Dana Moore will focus on circle track racing for the 2001 season. Dana Moore Racing has purchased a Legend Car to run in the Southern California Legend Car Series. Dana and the DMR team will be busy in the next several months to prep and test the car before the start of the season. Dana Moore should make her circle track debut sometime in March at Irwindale Speedway.
It will be her first time racing circle track. Another first will be competing near her hometown of San Diego. Irwindale Speedway, Orange Show Raceway and Cajon Speedway will be the three local tracks that Dana will call home for the 2001 season. "It's all new to me, all of it" said Dana. "Outside of a few test days I have never raced circle track.
We are currently building a team and will do some test days in the next few months. I have a lot to learn about the many different aspects of circle track." When asked about the different style of drivers and competition she will encounter, she said, "I know it will be different. I plan to take it slow and learn from the guys that have been there a long time. No matter where you go, when you're the new kid on the block you have to pay your dues."
Dana Moore Racing has developed a new business plan and sponsorship plan for 2001. They have created many unique and innovative ways to customize sponsorships so that the sponsor receives productive results with their involvement in Dana Moore Racing. The focus of the season will be on circle track but road racing will not be forgotten. "Dana plans to compete in the new Panoz Pro Series if time and money permit," said Director of Marketing Shawn Stewart. "We had a very accomplished season last year. I know Dana has reached a point where she could make a run for the points championship next year. We still need sponsorship for that series. It would be a shame for Dana to miss out on that series because of financial restraints" said Stewart.
Dana Moore Racing is also looking into some test days in a Trans Am Car as well as racing in some Pro Spec Racer Ford events. The 2001 season looks to be the busiest and possibly the toughest season of Dana's career. When Dana was asked are you up for all the challenges in the year to come... she simply said, "Yes, Definitely."
