Salem-IN (February 24, 2004) -- Officials from the CRA/Sunoco Super Series and The Southern All-Stars announced today the one-year postponement of the "Super Tour". Originally announced as a five-race series co-sanctioned by the two groups, scheduling issues forced the groups to delay the start of the new series for one year. "When a few of the potential tracks encountered promoter/ownership changes, scheduling became too tough to fill out the full Super Tour," noted Sunoco Super Series founder R. J. Scott. "With this announcement, the Rockford and Anderson events will now return to the normal 2004 points schedule for the Sunoco Super Series,"

Southern All-Stars promoter Ben Atkinson commented, "It is important to note, that the two tours will still combine to co-sanction the World Cup 300 at I-70 Speedway in October, similar to the hugely successful co-sanctioned event at Nashville last year. And we are still working on a return trip to Nashville for another North/South Shoot-Out in 2004, but scheduling is an issue there as well." While the Anderson 400 now returns to being a points event for the Sunoco Super Series, with SSS officials and rules, the Southern All-Stars will serve as a secondary sanctioning body for the event, promoting it on their schedule as a non-points event and encouraging participation from their teams.

With the new ABC Body package for late models being phased-in in 2004, many promoters have expressed excitement about the "Super Tour" concept, noting that 2005 would be a better year to see it commence.
