HANTZ HOLDS SLIM 3 POINT LEAD OVER ST. JOHN WITH FIVE EVENTS TO GO

Salem, IN (August 2, 2006) -- 2000 CRA Super Series Champion Scott Hantz holds a slim 3-point lead over 2005 CRA Super Series Rookie Of The Year Tommy St. John after 12 of the 17 events that make up the 2006 CRA Super Series points championship. Hantz and his Dick Poe Motorsports team are still looking to pick up their first victory of the 2006 season, but consistent up front finishes including an amazing 5 second place finishes have pushed them to the top of the series championship points. The Dick Poe Motorsports team with driver Scott Hantz have been trying to repeat as series champions since their 2000 championship, coming close, but never getting back to the top. The team has finished second in season championship points in 2001, 2003 and in 2004. The team finished in third place in 2002.

"We keep knocking on the door to get a win this season, hopefully we will get it soon," remarked Hantz. "Tommy's really done a great job this year, he seems to consistently qualify well and is always near the front of the field at the end of the race. He's learned to finish races, which will get him a win soon. I would like to win the championship, but I also want to wins races!"

Tommy St. John and the Steve Keller Motorsports team have not had a win this season, and are still seeking their first series victory, but St. John's consistent finishes and top five qualifying have kept them at the top of the points chase the entire season. St. John got a second place finish in the Anderson 250 on July 15th, his best series finish to date, and led several laps of this past Saturday's Spray Power 125 Presented By Professional Drivers Institute at New Paris Speedway before being passed late in the event by winner JR Roahrig and Eddie Van Meter. St. John has shown is talent racing well at tracks against veteran racers with a lot more experience and has done well at the new tracks as well.

"We've had a great season so far," remarked St. John. "I've always respected Scott Hantz, it's neat to be in a tight points race with him for the season championship. Hopefully we can keep getting qualifying points and good finishes and maybe our first win. I have to thank my car owner Steve Keller, he's the one paying the bills and my father, he works on our car all the time and does a great job with the maintenance each week, which has kept us from any DNF's."

Veteran series competitor JR Roahrig is currently in third, just 25 points behind Hantz. Roahrig got his first series point's victory of the season in Saturday's Spray Power 125 Presented By Professional Drivers Institute at New Paris Speedway. Roahrig, who for years seemed to have some of the worse luck of any driver in the series, has turned that around with consistent finishes this season to keep him in the points chase.

2005 CRA Super Series Drivers Points Champion Jeff Lane currently sits in fourth, 95 points out of first. Lane is the only series driver with two point's victories this season, but has also suffered several DNF's. Veteran Eddie Van Meter rounds out the top five 116 points behind Hantz, Van Meter got his first series victory at Angola Motor Speedway on July 22nd.

CD-2 Rookie Of the Year points leader Danny Jackson currently sits in sixth in season points with fellow rookie competitor Sondi Eden in seventh. Veteran Jack Landis is in eighth with Jason Shively in ninth and Andy Ponstein in tenth

So far this season the series has had 11 different winners in the 12 series point events, once again showing the level of talent the series has with the its regulars and drivers that drop in on occasion to compete. So far in 2006 the series has already had 112 different teams compete.

The next CRA Super Series Presented By Spray Power event will be the rescheduled A.P. Racing Engines 100 Presented By Spray Power on Friday, August 11th at Toledo Speedway. The event was rescheduled from its original July 2nd date because of weather. More information is available at www.craracing.net.
