Patriot 200 rules established to be accommodating for many racers across the country

(July 21, 2003) - Officials from American Speed Association, CRA/Sunoco Super Series, and O'Reilly Southern All-Stars have released the rules for the North vs. South Late Model Shoot-Out at the Fairgrounds Speedway at Nashville on Saturday October 18. The event will be called the "Patriot 200", and is reminiscent of the ALL-American 400 days, when the best late model drivers in the country gathered for the "Super Bowl" of short track racing.

The rules for the event are based on the efforts of different series officials, industry leaders and participants. While rules for all engine/car combinations could not be made, every effort was made to ensure that an accommodating and fair set of rules where established. These rules are NOT the rules of the CRA/Sunoco Super Series or O'Reilly Southern All-Stars; these rules are simply the rules for the "Patriot 200", which will be enforced by a joint crew of officials from multiple series. It is important for participants to note that the technical inspection process may differ greatly from what they are accustomed to, and therefore, are required to abide by these rules and inspection procedures, and not necessarily those of the individual series'.

There is a great deal on the line for the "Patriot 200", besides North vs. South bragging rights. The winner will receive over $5000 in cash and an all expenses paid ride in the following day's 300 lap ASA event. Additionally, teams will be competing with national T.V exposure, as a highlight package from the "Patriot 200" will air on the ASA live national telecast the following day. Entry forms will be mailed out in the next two weeks. Competitors who are not on either series mailing lists and wish to receive an official entry blank should contact the Sunoco Super Series if they are north of Nashville, and the O'Reilly Southern All-Stars if they are south of Nashville. To contact CRA/Sunoco Super Series call (812) 883-0455; for the O'Reilly Southern All-Stars call (256) 539-4484.
