LMS -- DIRT's Mod Squad Returns to Charlotte April 1-3
New Format Includes a 100-lap Finale for Big-Block Modifieds
CONCORD, N.C. (Feb. 17, 2004) - Four-time and defending Mr. DIRT modified champion Alan Johnson will lead the southern invasion when the New York-based DIRT organization returns to The Dirt Track @ Lowe's Motor Speedway April 1-3 for a tripleheader that includes the fourth annual Ferris 100 presented by DynoMax.
Previously a twin 50-lap event, this year's big-block modified spectacular will conclude with a 100-lap feature that is part of the prestigious Advance Auto Parts Modified Super DIRT Series. The second annual Charlotte Small-Block Championship is the opener for the Turning Stone Casino 358-Modified Super DIRT Series while the DIRT Pro Stock Challenge will feature 20 laps of action for the full-bodied stock cars.
The Thursday night, April 1, schedule includes practice and group qualifying for each of the three divisions with more than 120 cars expected to participate. All three divisions will also be in action Friday night, April 2, with pro stock qualifying races and big-block modified hot laps accompanying a full slate of small-block modified action. Heat races, last chance events and the Ferris 100 presented by DynoMax for the big-block modifieds along with a 20-lap feature for the pro stocks create an action-packed card for Saturday night, April 3.
The DIRT tripleheader will run in conjunction with the April 1-4 Food Lion AutoFair at Lowe's Motor Speedway. Spread over four days, Food Lion AutoFair is the nation's largest show of its kind. Among the attractions are a car show featuring some 50 car clubs, thousands of parts and memorabilia vendors, a collector car auction and unusual automotive attractions. A car corral will feature nearly 1,500 vehicles of all makes and models available for sale or trade.
If purchased in advance, reserved adult tickets are $18 for the Ferris 100 presented by DynoMax on Saturday night, April 3, and $15 for the Charlotte Small-Block Championship on Friday night, April 2. Tickets for children under 12 are just $5 each night. General admission tickets for Thursday night, April 1, are $5 for adults with children admitted free.
Tickets can be purchased online at www.lowesmotorspeedway.com or by calling the speedway ticket office at 1-800-455-FANS.
