Billy Ogle heads into UDTRA triple-header week.
(Knoxville, TN-- July 2, 2002) Billy Ogle, Jr. stays in the hunt for the Lucas Oil sponsored Rookie of the Year award on the United Dirt Track Racing Association (UDTRA) tour this week with three stops scheduled on the top-rated tour for dirt late model action. Ogle, who is a leading contender for the top rookie title moved up to the 15th position overall in the UDTRA national championship standings as a result of a pair of solid finishes this past weekend in Nebraska.
Ogle pilots the Calhouns Restaurants / Die Cast Digest / UPS sponsored Chevrolet Monte Carlo for Bill Reed Racing. This week's schedule on the UDTRA campaign will see Ogle appearing in three UDTRA sanctioned events beginning at Muskingum County Speedway (Zanesville, OH-July 3rd); Raceway 7 (Conneaut, OH-July 5th); and West Virginia Motor Speedway (Parkersburg, WV-July 6th).
Ogle, a former multi-time track champion at Atomic Motor Speedway in his hometown of Knoxville, TN, is anxiously looking forward to the next triple-header week on the UDTRA tour, which comes during the weekend of July 19-20. On that weekend, the UDTRA tour opens the three-day trek at Atomic Motor Speedway prior to a Saturday night date at Atlanta, GA's Dixie Speedway and a Sunday evening show in Rome, GA. The return home to a more familiar surface should bode well for Ogle's efforts on the high-profile dirt late model circuit.
Tennessee based partners in the Ogle-Reed racing efforts include Bonanza Produce, Fine Trucking, BiLo Market and West Haven Racing Equipment. The team competes in GRT Race Cars with horsepower provided by Clements Racing Engines of Spartanburg, SC. Ogle competes in Nationally Televised events on the UDTRA circuit, which are broadcast on the SPEED Channel.
