The Mid-Atlantic Championship Series is pleased to announce an addition to its 2002 schedule. After several months of trying to agree upon a suitable date, Big Diamond Raceway, Minersville, PA, has been added to the Series fold and to the schedule for Sunday, August 4.

Affectionately called "Big D", this dynamite 3/8 mile oval will host the Black Gold 50 paying $5,000 to-win from the $25,000 purse. The event will boast a payoff including $1,000 for seventh, with $600 going to tenth and $400 to-start.

Big Diamond, long noted for its outstanding action with Sportsman and Modifieds in eastern Pennsylvania will bring the ground pounding action of the Super Late Models in for a rare appearance. Jeff Gromis, track Public Relations Director, has been working for almost five months with the Series in an effort to secure a date. "After all this time, we are pleased to be able to present the fans of eastern Pennsylvania with some of the regions, as well as the nations, top late model teams. We had aggressively and eagerly pursued this event with MACS and are glad we have finally completed the deal. We, in conjunction with MACS will present this event as quickly and efficiently as humanly possible". Stated Gromis.

The pit gates will open at 4:00 p.m., with time trails slated to get underway at 6:30 p.m. sharp! Racing will follow immediately after the conclusion of time trails. Also, co-headlining for this special Sunday show will be the Sportsman and Roadrunners.
