Marne, MI (June 1, 2002) -- Butch Miller gave an encore performance in qualifying from last year's ASA Racing Series event at Berlin Raceway as he won the pole for a second consecutive season for the Tires.com 300 presented by BFGoodrich Tires.

Miller's time of 16.641 secs. 94.754 mph., became the 7th time the Coopersville (MI) native has captured the pole in ASA at Berlin and the 44th of his career. He is third on the all-time ASA list, just one pole behind Wisconsin legend Dick Trickle for seco nd. Michigan's Bob Senneker with 49 holds the top position.

Ironically for Butch Miller this event marks his 2002 ASA Racing Series debut, driving the Indianapolis-based ASI Limited number 04 car.

"It's a really good start with this team," said Miller. "Maybe actually too good, I guess all we do now is go down from here. Honestly, I'm surprised at how good this car is. It looks fast and it is fast."

Kevin Cywinski of Wisconsin, 16-year old Reed Sorenson of Georgia, Gary St. Amant and Muskegon native Mike Garvey round out the top five in qualifying.

Other Michigan drivers in the field include Dave Sensiba of Middleville and Lee Anderson of Grand Rapids.

The Tires.com 300 will take the green flag at 9 p.m. (Eastern) and will be telecast on a same-day tape delay basis on TNN The National Network at midnight.
