CAMARILLO, Calif. (June 8, 2004) -- Fresh off her first career top-10 finish, teenaged stock car racer Ashley Utts returns to Ventura Raceway Saturday, June 12 with the rest of the competitors in the track's Pony Stock class.

Utts finished 10th after starting 13th in the May 15 main event and is now 13th in the Pony Stock driver standings.

"I'm excited to finally get a top-10 finish," Utts said. "But racing is just like volleyball, you have to be consistent if you want to be a winner. I want to keep improving and consistently finish in the top 10."

Utts plays volleyball at Oaks Christian High School and recently finished a demanding club volleyball season. She will begin her senior year at Oaks Christian at the end of the summer. She is an honor student at the school.

"My parents and I visited some colleges this year, but I don't know where I want to go yet," Utts said. "If I find one that has intercollegiate stock car racing, maybe I'll go there."

Utts drives the Custom Printing-sponsored Ford Mustang. She represents the third generation in her family to drive a racecar, following her grandfather and both parents. Utts Racing has a total of 50 main event victories scored at racetracks around the Southwestern states.
