Emond wins tour race at Sun Valley

Vernon, BC Trevor Emond of Leduc, AB won the second race of the 2002 ACDelco Late Model Tour Saturday night at Sun Valley Motor Speedway in Vernon, BC.

Emond, who won his first Tour race last year at Bridge City Speedway in Saskatoon and is a regular at Race City Motorsport Park in Calgary, fought off the challenges of several of Western Canada's top Late Model Stock Car pilots to win Saturday night's feature in the rain-shortened LORDCO/ACDelco 125.

Finishing behind Emond's Pontiac Grand Prix was Creston, BC veteran Tim Elliott in a Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Elliott was coming off a strong performance in the season-opening race at Calgary in May and is considered one of the drivers most likely to win at least one Tour race this year. Craig 'Fast' Ball of Calgary was driving in only his second ACDelco Late Model Tour on Saturday but the two-time LEGENDS Cars of Alberta champion showed he is a force to contend with already with a strong third place finish.
