The AC Delco/Murray's Iceman Series' biggest news since the'98 season ended is the sale of Toledo Speedway. The track was bought at the beginning of the year by Ron Drager and Roy Mott and will run under the ARCA sanction. The high-banked 1/2 mile track will remain the home track for the series. It will host four races in 1999 for the template traveling series.
For the third consecutive season the Iceman Series first race will be an away race. We will start our 13th season at Flat Rock Speedway, a high banked quarter mile track, that was a regular date in the early 90's.
The tentative schedule, as of Feb. 26 is as follows
May 8 Flat Rock Speedway Flat Rock, Mich May 28 Toledo Speedway Toledo, Ohio June 5 Sandusky Speedway Sandusky, Ohio June 11 Toledo Speedway Toledo, Ohio June 19 TBA June 26 Auto City Speedway Flint, Mich. July 10 TBA July 17 * Shady Bowl Speedway DeGraff, Ohio July 24 TBA Aug. 6 Toledo Speedway Toledo, Ohio Aug. 14 TBA Aug. 28 Angola Motor Speedway Angola, Ind. Sept. 6 Toledo Speedway Toledo, Ohio
The series is also under negotiations with: Baer Field (Ind.), Springport (MI) (the former Michigan Ideal), M-40 (MI), Shady Bowl (OH), and Sandusky (OH).
Flat Rock and Toledo Speedways have several open practice dates. Iceman Series drivers can shake down their cars on the following days: Flat Rock - April 8 and 15 (4-8pm) and April IO (I 2-5pm). Toledo - April 30 (4-8 pm) & May 2 (12-5). The local divisions will also have practice time on these days.
